Quinn's "Assault Weapon" Ban Decree

Get ready, because here it comes.

Earlier this year we warned you about the anti-gun schemes being concocted by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Governor Pat Quinn and their bureaucratic big-city cronies.

With the legislature scheduled to reconvene tomorrow for the lame-duck session, Governor Quinn has usurped legislative authority and written his own decree banning so-called "Assault Weapons."

Sources from Springfield report Quinn's "Amendatory Veto" may be brought up as early as tomorrow.

But this massive gun ban isn't what was passed by the legislature in SB-681 earlier this year.

It's not even close.

Instead, Governor Quinn took a pair of scissors and some tape to a completely separate bill passed by the legislature and sent it back with a veto message.

The message to lawmakers was clear -- agree to it or else.

Cook County Board President and Commissioners Need to Hear from You TODAY!
Today, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced a 2013 budget plan that will penalize, through taxation, all purchases of firearms and ammunition in Cook County. If adopted, this proposal would impose a tax of a nickel per bullet and $25 for each firearm purchased, ultimately amounting to a massive penalty. Cook County would be the first jurisdiction in the country to impose a per-bullet and gun tax. Based on current prices, this penalty would more than double the price of some ammunition —for example, the price of a value box of .22 LR ammunition would increase by more than 150% under this proposal! Please contact Board President Preckwinkle and the Cook County Board of Commissioners TODAY and respectfully demand that they halt their blatant attacks on the Second Amendment.
